Description

Awwww, you'll need a mighty powerful telescope to see this likkle ghost twinkling away up there.

No theft risk

There is no risk that the white dwarf star will steal GTP (£££), XP, bait, or ghost plasma if you fail to catch it.

Additional information

Souvenirs required

You must have completed and displayed the Star collection of souvenirs before you can attract the white dwarf star.

Location

The white dwarf star can be captured only during Celebration week special events in region 1, Dumfries and Galloway, at the North Pole.

Light

The white dwarf star can only be seen in infrayellow light. Stack your setup, including your camera, with lenses and other equipment with iy light if you are trying to take a picture of the white dwarf star.

Mystic resistance

The white dwarf star is resistant to mystic power.

Mystic-resistant ghosts have three primary types:

  • Ghosts that can be caught with a strong raw-power setup
  • Ghosts that can only be caught with a combination of willpower (to overcome their mystic resistance) and high mystic power
  • Ghosts that require brute force in your setup to activate before they can be caught

Use a high mystic power, high willpower setup when you are trying to catch the White dwarf star.

Brute force may also strengthen your setup when you are trying to catch the White dwarf star.

The white dwarf star can be caught with a high raw power setup. Your setup does not require high willpower (force of will), although having it in your setup does not hurt!

High tech mechanism required

You must have a high tech mechanism in your active setup to be able to catch the white dwarf star.

Brute force will not help you catch the white dwarf star.

Companion modifiers

Some companions can modify your setup so that you can catch ghosts even if you do not have the required mechanism type in your setup.

The companions that can modify your setup to enable you to catch ghosts that normally require a high tech mechanism while you are using a different mechanism type include:

Thawing

The white dwarf star may be frozen when you attract it.

The best way to catch a frozen white dwarf star is to have the thawing stat in your setup, and for that thawing chance to be activated.

You can also catch a frozen white dwarf star with brute force in your setup if that brute force stat activates.

There is no way to catch a frozen white dwarf star with just a high raw power setup (and no thawing or brute force) or with just a high mystic power setup (and no thawing or brute force).

Drops

The white dwarf star has been known to occasionally drop one or more of the following items of ghost loot:

Snowflake loot

If you have the snowfall stat in your setup (because of an accessory, companion or contract with the stat on it), the white dwarf star may occasionally and randomly drop you a snowflake as loot. Because these snowfall-driven drops are so dependent on a player's individual setup and cannot be relied upon, snowflake loot drops are not specifically included in the list above.

Mockery loot

If you have the mockery stat in your setup (through the talent tree bonus or because of an accessory, companion or contract with the stat} you may occasionally have between 2 and 10 mocktails added to other loot drops from the white dwarf star. Because these mockery drops are so dependent on a player's individual setup and cannot be relied upon, none of the mocktails are included in the loot list above. The entire list of possible mocktails that may be dropped is on the mocktails page.

Mockery stat drops can be distinguished from a normal loot drop as follows:

A standard loot drop of a mocktail     5x Cherry bomb
A mockery stat-caused loot drop of a mocktail     5 Devil driver
Vintage connoisseur loot

If you have the vintage connoisseur stat in your setup (through an accessory, companion or contract with the stat} you may occasionally have between 2 and 10 bottles of a non-Nessy's loot potion or of Shadetouch blue or Shadetouch purple added to other loot drops from the white dwarf star. Because these connoisseur drops are so dependent on a player's individual setup and cannot be relied upon, none of the non-Nessy's loot potions involved are included in the loot list above. The entire list of possible bottles that can be dropped is found on the non-Nessy's loot potions page.

Both normal drops of a particular non-Nessy's loot potion and connoisseur drops of a particular loot potion show the same way in your journal:

16 x Shadetouch purple (10 bonus loot)

Counterparts

The white dwarf star is part of the Christmas stars family of ghosts. The complete set of Christmas stars includes:

Bait

Baits that might help attract the white dwarf star (because these baits will add iy light to your setup) include:
