Description

Talent trees are a way to allow agents of S.C.O.T.C.H. to develop a small set of specialized skills.

The talent trees are:

Each tree is discussed in a lot more detail on its own page.

How to gain specialties

Just as in life, gaining a specialty in one area can make life harder in another. To get the benefits at the bottom (top) of a particular talent tree, you must allocate points to the talents above it until you have enough points in the tree to unlock the final talent.

Re-setting your specialty

You can re-set your specialty by using a talent re-setter to give you the ability to re-assign all of your talent points among the trees. You do not have to re-earn the talent points.

What's the "best" talent tree?

There is no one single best way to distribute your points.

  • Buster: The buster talent tree has a lot of general hunting benefits you can take advantage of: more GBP, more midnight attraction. The two most special benefits of the buster talent tree are the ability to attract a shellycloak ghost (you won't ever see a shellycloak ghost unless you enable this talent, and a minimum hunting cooldown time of 1.5 minutes (instead of the standard cooldown time of 2 minutes]]. If you hunt casually, that talent is probably not something you need to put points into.
  • Adventurer: The adventurer talent tree has benefits focused on monster hunting. The most special benefits of the adventurer talent tree are the ability to attract the Forgotten one monster (you will never see a forgotten one unless you have enabled this talent) and the irrelevance talent, which allows you to remove a monster you do not want from your trap after you have attracted it—without having to wait for assist clicks.
  • Barkeeper: As its name suggests, the barkeeper talent tree has a lot of benefits focused on bait and mocktails. Its two most special benefits are gaining the ability to make maß malt juice and gaining the mockery talent, which gives the chance for each loot drop you receive to be accompanied by 2–10 mocktails chosen at random by the system.

Learning about talent trees

You will find the empty talent trees on the 9th floor of S.C.O..C.H. HQ in Rick Razor's Training room.

From the training room

From the training room, you can also see the various tasks you can perform to earn a talent point by clicking on the Earned talent points button. Some tasks require you to have reached a certain rank in the game to do them. The earning talent point page here in the wiki also gives you the list of tasks, and allows you to sort them by the location where the ghosts are found, minimum points required, type of ghost, etc.

Talent points

You can earn talent points by completing a variety of tasks, each of which earns you one talent point.

Ghosts caught before the introduction of talent trees don't count towards the ghosts needed to earn a talent point ... you start from 0 when calculating your ghosts for these achievements.

Talent point achievements

You can complete each achievement only once.

How a talent tree works

You assign a specific number of points to items on the tree, up to the maximum number specified for each talent.

Each point represents one rank on a particular talent. You do not have to put the maximum number of points into a particular talent, and you can skip certain talents if you want. You just have to keep track of the total number of points you need if you want to advance to the next tier in a tree (be able to put points into items on the next row).

Tree tiers can only be completed in order, and you can only progress to a new tier when you have assigned the appropriate number of points on the previous tier(s).
