Rufus belongs to a secret circle of druids who study the secrets of Stonehenge. This way he has learned many things about the ghosts of Scotland, a knowledge that S.C.O.T.C.H. can benefit from.

Efficiency (bait usage)

The Rufus the druid contract is a burner that uses one additional bottle of bait for each hunt.

You can combine the Rufus the druid contract with other burners or anti-burners to adjust the number of bottles you will use each hunt.

Burner use and strategy

Dealing with the burner aspect of the Rufus the druid contract is a perfect example of the kinds of choices and trade-offs you must make throughout Virtual Scotland.

There is no correct answer — there is simply the choice that benefits your current goals the most (or the choice that minimizes the amount of pain you feel watching bait disappear). It's all a matter of taste and your current goals.

Many people prefer to use cheaper bait with the Rufus the druid contract. They tend to see burner components as an occasional necessary evil.

Others will use Nessy's Golden Reserve or mocktails with the Rufus the druid contract in their setup, because they are trying to capture a ghost that requires more raw power, more mystic power, or more something to catch than is otherwise available. Again, this is purely a matter of taste.

Only you know what is most important to you in Ghost Trappers right now, and that is probably the most important factor to consider to help you determine the best strategy for your own use of the Rufus the druid contract.

Document-dropping schedule

The contract documents were first dropped on a staggered schedule as new locations were opened:

  • RTD.1 was dropped beginning in March 2010
  • RTD.2 was dropped beginning in August 2010
  • RTD.3 was dropped beginning in January 2011

Ghosts and locations

The Rufus the druid contract documents are occasionally dropped as ghost loot by the following ghosts:


  • 12 January 2010: Rufus the druid contract appeared in the office.
  • 27 May 2010: The Rufus the druid is given the malty mist attribute of 1.
  • 7 January 2011: The Rufus the druid contract lost its malty mist bonus, but gained 1 attraction.
  • 10 January 2011: The Rufus the druid contract is first negotiated in the office by agents of S.C.O.T.C.H. 10 January 2011 is the date the final piece of the contract documents required began to drop as ghost loot.
