Elemental monsters are such strong and fierce creatures that it takes the efforts of many agents combined to trap them! An elemental monster ghost is indicated with a monster head on its picture or outline in your hunting log.
- are attracted to your trap by the presence of malty mist;
- will only be attracted when a ice cauldron, Olympic altar cauldron, planar disruptor, planar disintegrator or rift cauldron is activated with elemental plasma; and
- will not be attracted if you already have a [[Ghost monsters|ghost monster of any type that your friends are assisting with.
A very few elemental monsters may drop special loot, but this is an exception not the rule.
Most Elemental monsters can be found in all non-raiding locations (including special events locations) with a few exceptions, such as the arctic ghostlem, which can only be found in Castle McCloud nightmare mode.
Catching an elemental monster requires the assistance of many friends—the exact number of friends depends on the elemental monster's epicness. Once enough friends have assisted you, you will see that you have caught the elemental monster after the next hunt that you start. You must start the hunt; the elemental monster will not appear after a friend-led hunt or a normal auto-hunt.
