Description


There are several different types of in-game currency.

Some currencies are general purpose (such as pounds (£) or Nessy's. Other currencies are more specialized, and are ones that you can use to purchase items in-game at Bayoushi's shop, or, occasionally, the Q-section and the Laboratory.

Only a few types of currency can be used to trade with other players.

General purpose currencies


These currencies can be used to trade with other players, or to purchase many items throughout the game.

Ghost Trapper pounds

Ghost trapper pounds are sometimes also referred to as GTP or as GBP (Ghost British pounds). These are the credits you earn for capturing ghost photos.

Nessy's Golden Reserve

Nessy's has been very close to a de facto currency within Virtual Scotland since the very beginning of the game. They can be traded with other players as well as used throughout the game to purchase items or services (such as augmenting a companion).

These additional types of currency can be used to purchase particular items within the game and cannot be traded to other players.

Please see the Bayoushi's shop page for details on the amount of different currencies required to purchase particular items. (Bayoushi's costs may change without notice).

Amber fragments

Amber fragments can be used to purchase certain accessories.

Blood plasma

Like the other plasma types, blood plasma can be used as part of the purchase price for various companions and accessories.

Blue stardust

Blue stardust is used to help purchase items in Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop on the 9th floor of S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ.

Chrono crystal fragments

You need to use chrono crystal fragments as an additional payment to purchase certain mechanisms and magic circles. It is also possible to purchase items in Bayoushi's shop with it.

Dark dimension plasma

Like the other plasma types, dark dimension plasma can be used as part of the purchase price for various pieces of equipment.

Digital coins

The digital coin is a currency introduced at the opening of the Digital room (located at the end of a trapdoor from Castle McDonohan in Strathclyde).

Diviad points

Diviad points can be used to purchase a number of items in Bayoushi's shop. The types of items available include mechanisms, companions, ID badges, and more.

Dogtags

Dogtags can be used to purchase numerous items from Lady Ayumi Bayoushi.

Elemental plasma

Like the other plasma types, elemental plasma can be used as part of the purchase price for various pieces of equipment.

It can also be used to to purchase the Trident staff from Lady Bayoushi's shop, which is the first step towards aquiring the Trident of the Sea.

Football currency

The football currency can be used to purchase raven coins and golden nuggets from Bayoushi. Football currency can also be used to purchase several different types of items (a companion, a contract, accessories) from Bayoushi that should help you attract more of the World Cup 2018 ghosts in the Summoning room.

German meteorites

Like other meteorites, German meteorites can be used as part of the purchase price for various companions and accessories in Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop on the 9th floor of S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ.

Ghost plasma

Ghost plasma can be used when you are ready to augment a companion.

You also must use ghost plasma as part of the payment costs to purchase certain mechanisms and magic circles.

You can also use ghost plasma in Bayoushi's shop as payment or partial payment when you want to purchase certain items that may include jurassic plasma and certain companions and contracts, as well as contract documents and accessories.

Check Bayoushi's shop for exact details on the items that must be paid for, in full or in part, by ghost plasma.

Ionized plasma

Ionized plasma can be used in Bayoushi's shop as part of the purchase price for various special items.

Joker cards

Joker cards can be used as part of the currency required to purchase various pieces of equipment, badges, companions, etc. They are, of course, also used in Words with ghosts!

Jurassic plasma

You can use jurassic plasma to purchase certain companions from Bayoushi's shop.

Jurassic plasma is also required as part of the payment required to purchase some accessories there.

Magic wood

Magic wood can be used in the Q-section and the Laboratory to purchase particular trap mechanisms and magic circles.

Magic wood can also be used to purchase the ghost sheep companion in Bayoushi's shop, and is part of the payment required for other companions.

Meteorites

Use meteorites to purchase gear to help with hunting aliens and UFOs.

Nightmare crystals

Use nightmare crystals to purchase equipment from Bayoushi's shop.

You can also purchase nightmare crystals from Bayoushi's shop.

Nightmare tokens

Nightmare tokens can be used to purchase equipment from Bayoushi's shop to help trap nightmare ghosts.

Purple stardust

Reaper scythe

Reaper scythes can be used to purchase a number of special items with stats from Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop.

Russian meteorites

Russian meteorites can be used to purchase equipment from Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop to help trap aliens and ufos.

Sacred plasma

You can use sacred plasma to purchase, among other things, certain companions from Bayoushi's shop.

You also must use sacred plasma as part of the payment costs to purchase certain magic circles.

S.C.O.T.C.H. badges

S.C.O.T.C.H. badges must be used to purchase (or to make part of the payment for) specialty items in Bayoushi's shop.

Seashells

Singapore meteorites

Snowflakes

Snowflakes can be used to purchase certain accessories, contracts, companion, lens and avatar. It can also be traded with certain kind of plasma, magic potion, and mixer.

Summoning scrolls

Summoning scrols can be used to purchase items ranging from companions to camera lenses in Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop on the 9th floor of S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ.

Uncut lenses

Uncut lenses can be used in Bayoushi's shop to help purchase certain companions and special items such as flashlights.

Xeno plasma

Xeno plasma can be used in Bayoushi's shop to help purchase certain special items with stats.

Dedicated purchasing power in-game

Some currencies have only one or a limited number of purposes of currency within Virtual Scotland.

These items include the Nessy EGGs, which are used as part of the currency to purchase the Mother Nessy companion from Lady Ayumi Bayoushi's shop.

Companions

You can use a ghost hamster and other small companions as a type of currency to be traded in for bigger better companions in Bayoushi's shop. The companion types that can be traded up are:

Nessy E.G.G.s

You must collect the following items to be able to purchase the Mother Nessy companion from Bayoushi's shop:

Ghostlantis necklace

Each Ghostlantis necklace you find can be traded for 10 seashells in Bayoushi's shop.

IG.1s

Yes, IG.1s ..., once the most hated drop of all in region 3 Strathclyde, actually have value in Bayoushi's shop.

You can use IG.1s to pay for glasses of certain highly-regarded mocktails in the shop.

IG.2s

IG.2s can be traded in for IG.1s.

Trident of the Seas parts

You must acquire the following special items of currency (plus a lot of GTP and completing other requirements) to be able to purchase the Trident of the Sea special item in Lady Bayoushi's shop.
