From Ghost Trappers Wiki
The (first?) batch of Christmas stars were released at the beginning of Celebration week 8, 2016.
- Each of the Christmas star monsters in the Winter wonderland uses a different type of plasma and a different type of cauldron. Once you have acquired the loot from one of those monsters, change your cauldron type and put the appropriate new plasma into it.
Minimize midnight attraction
Make sure that you have the lowest possible midnight attraction stat in your setup when hunting the Christmas stars: These are very much anti-midnight ghosts! (You may see the Christmas stars during your midnight hour by chance, but there is no point in relying on that fact, since their occurrence is rare. On the other hand, if you have much of the midnight attraction stat in your setup, that will ensure that you see few or none of the stars.
If you own the spotlight special item, make sure that it is enabled
Most of the Christmas stars can be attracted with bait that has low to medium-level attraction.
The Superstar in the Winter wonderland needs a high-attraction bait.
The jigsaw star at the North Pole needs a low-attraction bait (such as Silver star green).
Plan to shift setups
The major factor to keep in mind when hunting the Christmas stars is that you will need multiple setups to successfully trap the Christmas stars.
At the North Pole
You will need setups that include:
)You need the light to attract a particular ghost, the mechanism type shown to catch it (or the appropriate companion modifier to help you catch ghosts that require that type of mechanism), and extinguish or thawing, as indicated, for ghosts that are either on fire or frozen.
You will also need a strong brute force setup
Planning for next year
If you've struggled with the Christmas stars when they first appear, there are things you can do to strengthen your setup both generally and for futre Celebration weeks:
- Request S.C.O.T.C.H. badge gifts from other players regularly, and return the favor to those who ask you for help.
- 12 December 2016: The Christmas stars were first mentioned in the banner announcing the coming Celebration week 8.
- 19 December 2016: The Christmas stars were released.
