Description


Arthur McDoyle was rumoured to be a sorcerer. One day Castle McDoyle vanished from the face of the Earth and now can only be seen during special times.

Except during special events, Arthur McDoyle's guests are trapped with him and can be subjected to his sorcerous experiments at any time ...

Requirements


Agents of S.C.O.T.C.H. must have at least 80,000 XP and a ticket to Borders to visit Castle McDoyle.

There is no cost to travel to or from Castle McDoyle at the beginning or end of a special event. Travel from Castle McDoyle to any other unlocked location during a special event is also free. If you travel to a previously locked location, it will cost the normal amount to unlock that location.

Special ghosts

Special, gift, and seasonal ghosts can also be trapped in Castle McDoyle, since they can be found in all non-raiding locations in Virtual Scotland.

Mythic-creature ghosts

The special ghosts include such Nessy's-loving ghosts as Ghost Nessy, Cu Sith, Kelpie, Selkie, Glowing Ghost Nessy, Howling Cu Sith, Luring Kelpie, Moonlight Selkie, Glaistig ghost and Green glaistig ghost.

Randomly-appearing and prize ghosts

In addition, the Golden ghost, the Shiny golden ghost, the Rainbow ghost, and the Magic Rainbow ghost are all available (in very small numbers) to be caught in Castle McDoyle.

Gift ghosts

The gift ghosts that are available are the Friendship ghost, Love ghost, and Birthday ghost. During the Christmas holiday season, the Christmas elf ghost is also available to be gifted.

Loot


Loot may occasionally be dropped in Castle McDoyle and in all non-raiding locations by special ghosts and by ghost monsters. For details see the special and ghost monsters loot list.

Ghost plasma, chrono crystal fragments, special edition magic potions (except for Glengreen purple and Moormist purple), and some companions are also occasionally dropped here.

S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ


S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ is an interesting place, with treasures to be found in many different corners of its outpost in Castle McDoyle:

Bar

At the bar in S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ in Castle McDoyle, Charles the bartender has his usual fine collection of magic potions available for sale.

Charles also has a selection of recipes available for purchase if you haven't filled out your recipe library yet.

He is also always ready to help with your mixology needs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just bring him the magic potion and the appropriate mixer, and Charles will have a batch of your favourite mocktail ready for you almost instantaneously.

The Green goddess mocktail was first available for purchase during Haunted Week III in the bar at S.C.O.T.C.H. HQ in Castle McDoyle, at 2000£ per bottle.

During Haunted Week IV, Charles again made the Green goddess mocktail for agents of S.C.O.T.C.H., but the price had increased to 3000 £. As from As from Haunted Week V, the Green goddess mocktail is no longer for sale at the bar in Castle McDoyle.

Highland Pride, a previous special bait, was not available for purchase during Haunted Week III or Haunted Week IV. Some lucky agents may have received some bottles of Highland Pride as part of a ghost loot drop during Haunted Week III or Haunted Week IV.

Charles can offer you a refund on bottles of Highland Pride if you'd like.

History


  • 29 May 2009: Castle McDoyle made its first appearance ever in GT's Virtual Scotland for Haunted Weekend II.
  • 2 June 2009: Castle McDoyle has vanished from Virtual Scotland until the next special event calls it forth.
  • 25 October 2009: Castle McDoyle made its second appearance in GT's Virtual Scotland for Haunted Week III.
  • 5 November 2009: Castle McDoyle has vanished from Virtual Scotland until the next special event calls it forth.
  • 13 July 2010: Castle McDoyle made its third appearance in GT's Virtual Scotland for Haunted Week IV.
