Description

An augmentation is a small boost to a common stat or the addition of an additional stat or additional loothunter that can be added to companions once they have reached level 5.

The augmentations that your level 5 companion receives are totally random and you have no control over them, except by selecting to augment from supergroup one or supergroup two as described below.

You do not have to augment your companion. It is a choice you can make. If you do not like the augmentations a companion receives, you can always remove them (deaugment the companion) and try again.

First three augmentations

You can give your level 5 companion one to three augmentations if you want. You are not required to add augmentations to any companion!

Fourth augmentation

You can give your companion an additional augmentation slot by giving it companion gifts (so that you receive affection points from it) until its lovebar is filled.

Requirements

Your companion must be level 5 before you can give it three augmentations.

Your companion must be level 5 and the companion gift bar must be full to add a fourth augmentation.

Normal augmentations

When you choose normal augmentations you have a very small chance of getting any particular augmentation.

You will only receive one loothunter if you select all normal augmentations.

Stats and loothunters

There are 26 different loothunters that are available as normal augmentations.

There are also 32 stat bonuses that are available as normal augmentations.

Cost

A normal augmentation costs 1000 Nessy's or 50 ghost plasma.

A player with the Gambler talent from the Buster talent tree will pay 900 Nessy's or 40 ghost plasma for each augmentation.

You can find the list of all augmentations here, including the value of each stat bonus and the number of items added for the various loothunters for normal augmentations, supergroup one augmentations, and supergroup two augmentations.

Super augmentations

When you choose an augmentation from supergroup one or supergroup two, your augmentation will be randomly chosen from a set of 29 or 30 possible augmentations, so your chance of getting a particular augmentation is approximately twice as great than it would be with a normal augmentation.

However, there are costs to having that greater chance of gaining a specific augmentation:

  • If you choose more than one augmentation from supergroup one and supergroup two, you may receive two loothunters.
  • You must use one additional currency (your choice as shown below) in addition to ghost plasma for one of these augmentations.
